A Master Post Impressionist Artist

Known for his sunflowers, starry nights and self portraits. He was a master mark maker but only created art for 10 yrs. In his short but remarkable career he created 2,100 pieces of artwork, including watercolors, drawings, sketches and prints. We are fortunate to know so much about this amazing artist because of his 900 letters to his brother Theo. Learn more about this prolific artists by using a similar creative process and similar tools. Van Gogh's Art and the elements and principles of art will take on fresh new meaning and come alive!

In This Art Class

You will learn how to use techniques and use tools similar to Van Gogh. You will learn:

  • How to collage using wonderful patterned papers you've created- Painting with paper!

  • How to paint Impasto style to create texture in paintings like Van Gogh.

  • Create your own signature marks for mark making and learn how to use your marks to create patterns while trying new tools.

  • How to look at Van Gogh's portraits for marks and shapes.

  • How to create a still life using a resist technique and watercolors.

  • How to sketch from real life, and more!

Heather Wombacher

I am a self-taught artist, with a passion to see all of life through a lens of truth and beauty. I am currently a teacher at The Cor Deo School, a Classical Christian School in the South Puget Sound Region of Washington. I have been teaching in this pedagogy for over 15 yrs., first to my own children and then in private education. From my home studio, I lead summer art camps -Camp heARTful-, weekend workshops, private lessons, adult classes, and live classes! I use a Classical Education pedagogy, utilizing masterful works of art as inspiration. But most importantly, I believe in a wondrous Creator who, with intention made each of us creative by giving us an imagination! It is our job to show up and use it to point others to him. This is my humble attempt at doing so. I look forward to taking this creative journey with you. Heather
